Yeoju Institute of Technology, operated by the Dongsin Educational Foundation (Chairman Woo O-Hyun), has joined hands with KLCSM, 

a shipping affiliate of SM Group, to actively foster future talent in the maritime industry.

Yeoju Institute of Technology announced that on July 9, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KLCSM, a leading ship 

management company, at the university’s main conference room in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.

This partnership represents a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the university’s newly planned Department 

of Maritime Transport, set to launch in the 2026 academic year. It also reflects the long-standing vision of Chairman Woo O-Hyun of the 

Dongsin Educational Foundation, who has emphasized that “cultivating industry-ready talent is essential to ensuring the sustainability and 

vitality of regional universities.”

The signing ceremony was attended by Sang-Wook Lee, President of Yeoju Institute of Technology, KLCSM CEO O-Gil Kwon, and other key 

personnel, all of whom expressed their commitment to the success of this initiative.

Under the terms of the MOU, the two institutions agreed to: ▲ Share human, physical, and educational resources and infrastructure, 

▲ Collaborate on extracurricular programs, field training, and industry visits, ▲ Support internship opportunities and employment linkage, 

▲ Jointly pursue and develop government-funded policy projects.

Yeoju Institute of Technology anticipates that integrating KLCSM’s practical field expertise into the university curriculum will produce 

substantial results in industry-academic cooperation. To achieve this, the university will design a hands-on, career-focused curriculum 

and establish a systematic employment network with domestic and international companies in the maritime industry, centered around 

its new department.

KLCSM also plans to actively support the university’s talent development efforts through advisory input on curriculum development, 

as well as practical programs such as internships and field training.

President Sang-Wook Lee commented, “This partnership with KLCSM, which plays a key role in the global shipping industry, marks 

a meaningful milestone in expanding Yeoju’s educational reach and boosting its competitiveness. We will continue working to ensure 

that our students have ample opportunities to pursue their dreams in a variety of industrial fields.”
