KLCSM Wins 'Shipowner Category' at the 40th Quasi-Maritime Accident Case Contest for the Second Consecutive Year

– Leading the way in preventing maritime accidents and spreading an advanced safety culture

KLCSM was honored with the 'Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority President’s Award' in the shipowner 

category at the '2025 40th Annual Quasi-Maritime Accident Case Contest' hosted by the Central Maritime Safety 

Tribunal of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

This award marks the second consecutive year that KLCSM has won in the shipowner category, recognizing the 

company's continuous efforts and competence in maritime safety management and the successful establishment of a safety culture.

A ‘Quasi-Maritime Accident’ is defined under Article 2, Paragraph 1-2 of the Marine Accident Investigation and Tribunal Act 

(「해양사고심판법」). It refers to a situation that has the potential to cause harm to human life, vessels, or the marine environment 

if not corrected or improved in relation to the vessel's structure, equipment, or operation. The Central Maritime Safety Tribunal 

of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries holds this contest annually to discover and share such cases, thereby spreading 

a culture of maritime accident prevention. The shipowner category was newly established in 2024 to select and commend excellent 

practices in safety management.

By winning consecutively since the shipowner category was first established, KLCSM has been recognized for its merits in actively 

implementing the advancement of its safety management system and an operation culture focused on risk prevention.

This achievement is the result of the entire staff consistently prioritizing safety as the highest value in their daily work and 

steadily promoting near-miss prevention activities, all under the management philosophy that "Safety is fundamental."
