Argentina - Speed limit in Parana River due to low water
The Argentinian Coast Guard issued administrative enquiries against various vessels for breaching speed limits, mainly in the Rosario port area of the Parana River where the speed limit is currently 9 knots.

To remind, the low waters in Parana River have been an issue of concern lately, given the risks arising for vessels sailing through the river.
Now, Standard Club's correspondents, Pandi Liquidadores SRL, has _alert_ed that last week the Argentinian Coast Guard issued enquiries and cautioned vessels for breaching speed limits.
The Club comments that
We suggest all members remind their masters when calling at any port in the River Plate basin, Parana River, to ensure that they discuss the navigational plan with the pilot to become well aware of the regulations in force to avoid fines for breaching speed limits.
Keep in mind that in case of breaching the speed limits, vessels will be detained by the Maritime Authority of around USD 30,000 to cover the potential fines.
The latest advisory that had been issued by Pandi, included recommendations(첨부참조) to shipowners trading to Argentina, advising them to be informed of the current situation on the Parana River and to continue maximising all precautions and taking all measures as previously recommended.
