WASH DAMAGE AND SPEED REGULATION IN RIVER PLATE AND PARANA RIVER

Our correspondents in Argentina Pandi Liquidadores have published a Circular 036/2020 (첨부참조) to raise awareness of wash damage claims that affect berths and ships alongside, reportedly caused by the excessive speed of ships sailing either downriver or upriver.

Shipowners and Masters are encouraged to discuss the applicable speed regulations as part of a detailed navigational discussion between the Master and the Pilot when calling at Argentinean ports, as this could minimise or prevent wash damage incidents and associated disputes for damages, and also prevent related Coast Guard administrative enquiries and inspections.
