Korea's leading ship manager KLCSM (CEO Park Chan-min), an affiliate of SM Group (Chairman Woo Oh-hyun), announced that it is preparing for the market by developing its own power saving equipment, "EPS," to cope with IMO environmental regulations.
EPS said it has confirmed that fuel consumption has decreased by 10% through empirical experiments on KLCSM management ships as a device that reduces power consumption by utilizing loss energy from reactive power by improving the power factor of large motors in ships.
As a result, it is expected to be a good way for shipping companies to reduce carbon emissions and establish a decarbonization strategy by improving ship operation efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.
KLCSM is a large domestic ship manager who manages about 80 ships. Based on more than 40 years of ship management experience and engineering know-how, EPS was developed by combining the technology of Gwangmun Ocean Care (CEO Bae Han-kyung), a company specializing in energy saving solutions.
KLCSM also said it will contribute to the development of the domestic shipping industry by leading the marine sector such as KLCSM, Daehan Shipping, Daehan Shipping LNG, Daehan Merchant Marine, SM Merchant Marine, and Changmyeong Shipping, as well as autonomous ship technology development. )
